The 14270 represents a bridge between vintage and modern Explorers. It replaced the Explorer 1016, which had a much longer production run and a more utilitarian aesthetic. The 14270 brought a contemporary style to the Explorer while maintaining its rugged heritage. Its design updates, such as the use of applied markers and sapphire crystal, set the stage for future Explorer models.

The Rolex Explorer 14270 is highly regarded among collectors and enthusiasts. Early versions such as this with Tritium dials are especially sought after, as some tend develop a unique patina over time. It’s a classic timepiece that appeals to those who value understated elegance and Rolex’s legacy of durability and precision.

This T serial model is presented in very good, unpolished conditon. It still retains its green factory caseback sticker marked 14270, although the inlay has faded away.

The black lacquered dial shows signs of specking under natural light which is common for these models. The tritium lume plots have turned a creamy hue over time which is more noticeable under direct sunlight. The watch is fitted with its 78360 oyster bracelet with 558b endlinks. The clasp is enraved V4 indacating a production year of 1996.

The watch comes with its wooden pillow display box and green bark effect outer box. The outer box retains its reference 14270 sticker.

We have had the watch fully serviced with our in-house watchmaker and provide a one year warranty against the movement.
